The Suites at Algiers Point Wins Prestigious Memory Care Award

The community is the first ever to receive Distinguished Provider Award

Luling, LA- (June 09, 2015) The Suites at Algiers Point Assisted Living and Memory Care, located at 270 Ashton Plantation Blvd in Luling, LA, was awarded Dementia Care Specialists’ Distinguished Provider Award on May 22. The award is given to memory care communities that excel in resident care, specifically at helping their residents enjoy the greatest level of function, safety, and quality of life. The Suites at Algiers Point is the first assisted living and memory care community to win the award.

The award was presented by Dementia Care Specialists President and Founder Kim Warchol. The status honors The Suites at Algiers Point’s commitment to the Dementia Capable Care training philosophy and to an abilities-based approach to care.

“Distinguished Provider status is a seal of approval from industry leaders,” Kim said at the ceremony.

Developed by Schonberg & Associates, owner-operator of Vista Shores in New Orleans, soon-to-open Beau Provence in Mandeville, and communities in Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina, The Suites at Algiers Point opened in 2012 to serve the assisted living and memory care needs of Luling residents. Each team member at The Suites at Algiers Point is specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and the community’s individualized programs are custom-designed to enable each resident to function at the highest possible level.

“We believe that the best way to help people at every stage of the disease is to build abilities-based, person-centered care around understanding what someone’s life was like, in order to make their life better now,” said The Suites at Algiers Point owner David Schonberg.

More than five million Americans are living with dementia, and it’s projected that almost 15 million will be affected by 2050.
